Taqnilex is a bilingual EN↔AR terminology and document compliance service operated as a SASU.
We provide the concordancer at taqnilex.com, the B2B platform at
app.taqnilex.com, and the Araterm browser extension.
2. Data we collect
2.1 taqnilex.com (concordancer — no account required)
- Search queries (term text, domain filter) — stored anonymously for corpus improvement
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser, timestamp) — retained 30 days
- No cookies beyond a session identifier
2.2 app.taqnilex.com (platform — account required)
- Email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
- API usage logs (endpoint, timestamp, response time) — retained 90 days
- Documents uploaded to DocCheck — processed in memory, not stored on our servers
- Contributor validation data (term votes, quality scores) — stored pseudonymously
2.3 Araterm browser extension
- Selected text is sent to our API to retrieve terminology matches
- Selected text is not logged or stored — only used for the real-time lookup
- A local IndexedDB cache stores previously resolved terms — stored only on your device
- No browsing history is collected or transmitted
3. How Araterm works
- Selected text: When you select text on a page, the extension
reads the selection locally in your browser to perform a terminology lookup.
- Lookup requests: Term queries are sent to
api.taqnilex.com (our API) to retrieve Arabic translations.
The query is the term text only — no page URL, no user identity is transmitted. - Local cache: Frequently used terms are cached in your browser's
IndexedDB storage to speed up lookups and enable partial offline access.
This data is stored locally on your device and never uploaded.
4. How we use your data
- To provide the terminology search and document audit services
- To enforce API quotas and plan limits
- To improve corpus quality through anonymized search analytics
- To validate contributor submissions against corpus quality thresholds
We do not sell data to third parties.
We do not use your documents to train AI models.
5. API Communication
Requests are sent to api.taqnilex.com. No authentication token is
required for anonymous use. No cookies are sent. Requests contain only the queried
term text.
B2B API users: Organizations with an
app.taqnilex.com account can optionally connect their API key in the
extension settings. When connected, a JWT authentication token is sent with lookup
requests to identify the account for quota tracking and premium feature access.
No personal data is transmitted in the token.

7. Document confidentiality
Documents uploaded via DocCheck are processed in memory only. They are not written to disk,
not retained after the analysis response is returned, and not accessible to any third party.
Enterprise customers can request on-premise deployment to ensure documents never leave their infrastructure.
8. Data retention
- Anonymous search logs: 30 days
- Account data: retained while account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- API usage logs: 90 days
- Contributor validation data: retained indefinitely (pseudonymous, used for corpus quality)
- Local cache (Araterm): Stored until you clear browser data or uninstall
the extension.
- Server-side (Araterm): Lookup queries may be logged transiently for
abuse prevention (IP + term). Logs are retained on a short rolling basis and
then deleted.
9. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to processing or request restriction
- Data portability
Since Araterm does not collect personal data, there is no user profile to access, modify,
or delete for extension users. For platform accounts, contact us at the address below.
10. Third-party services
- Weaviate (vector database) — self-hosted, no data leaves our infrastructure
- No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no third-party advertising trackers
- Araterm does not use advertising networks or analytics SDKs
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The latest version is always
available at taqnilex.com/privacy.
